The Centuri Space Dock was a space station, located close to the Moon.
Description[]
Centuri is a long, manned space station, that has four long modules on each end, parallel to the center fuselage. The station seems to have been assembled in orbit, seeing that there are rocket engines on every modules, witch resemble the first and second stages of the Saturn V launcher. The Spacedock also has a landing pad attached to it, so that eagles can acces the station. The station likely uses the same artificial gravity technology that is used on Alpha.
The number 12
The station is refered as "Meta Probe Lanch Platform", and "Interplanetairy space station" in the series (The name "Centuri" is a popular fan name). It serves as a starting point for deep space missions.
It is also speculated by some members of the comunity that there were twelve Spacedocks, seeing that there is a large number 12 on the middle module of the station. This is likely not true, since there are more numbers on the arms,
History[]
Constructed between the 2nd of July 1982, and the 19th of July 1983, under the guidance of the newly-formed International Lunar Finance Committee, a sub-branch of the World Space Commission, Centuri served as the lauch point for a number of space exploration missions, such as the Uranus Probe, commanded by Jack Tanner and Cabot Rowland, Astro 7, under the command of Lee Russell, and the Ultra Probe mission, with Captain Anthony Cellini in command. It was also designated as the launch station for the Meta Probe.

On the 13th of September 1999, following the Breakaway of the moon, Centuri explodes, presumably due to the forces generated by the spining motion caused by the blast. Out of the 223 souls on board, there are no known survivors, and it is unlikley that anyone could have survived.
The TV broadcast seen after the blast on Alpha, says that the station was flung out of orbit due to the former. This is either a continuity error, or Earth is unaware of the destruction of the station, witch is more likeley, since radiation can disrupt (or "Jam") radar and communcation system frequencies.

Between 1969 and 1970, the same concept of space station was proposed by NASA to repourpus Saturn V stages into habitation modules to be docked in earth orbit. This was later tested with the Skylab Space Station between 1973 and 1979, witch was a presurised habitation module that was trapped on top of the "Saturn INT-21 Launcher", a modified Saturn V, to be serviced by the Apollo CSM (Command and Service Module)
